SDG 15 - IIIEE Library, International institute for industrial environmental economics
80% of all agricultural land is used to raise livestock for meat and milk production. Livestock make up 62% of the world's mammalian biomass, while wild mammals make up only 4%. Despite the huge land use for livestock, meat, dairy and farmed fish account for only 17% of the world's calories and 38% of its protein. A shift to a plant-based diet is essential if we are to preserve the world's biodiversity. Visit us at the International Environment Institute's library and explore the topic of sustainable food production, in relation to SDG 15: Ecosystems and biodiversity.
