*Fully booked* Sustainable agriculture by research – Gårdstånga Nygård
Sustainable farming in a changing climate requires water-wise methods. This event will take place on a farm where an irrigation pond has been constructed. There will be a guided tour of the pond, a keynote speech by a policy officer of the European Commission, DG AGRI. Results from WATERAGRI, a European research project, will be presented by researchers from universities across Europe.
This event is about sustainable farming with focus on water. Food security has become an increasingly hot topic. In order to achieve food security, we need efficient farms, while making sure that sustainability is not compromised. Since agriculture is a weather sensitive activity, adaptation to climate change is crucial. The WATERAGRI project has been doing research with the aim of providing solutions for these issues. More specifically, those solutions deal with water retention and nutrient retention
Location
The event will take place at Gårdstånga Nygård, which is a farm 13 km NE of Lund. The host at the farm is Gustaf Ramel, who is a partner in the WATERAGRI research project. WATERAGRI is coordinated by Water Resources Engineering, Lund University. A bus from downtown Lund will take attendants to and from the location.
