Africa’s Peace Puzzle: How Peace has prevailed in Malawi, Zambia and Botswana
Africa is one of the world’s most conflict-affected regions. However, this bleak picture is not all-embracing. Surrounded by seven neighbours that have been wracked by war Botswana, Malawi and Zambia constitute a ‘Zone of Peace’ not experiencing civil war since independence. Why has peace prevailed in these three countries?
Join us for a lecture about the causes of peace together with lecturer Johan Broché.
Johan Brosché is Associate Professor in International Relations (Stockholm University) and Peace and Conflict Research (Uppsala University). Brosché has studied the diversity of peace and war in Africa for 20 years. He has published in journals such as Journal of Peace Research, Security Studies and Journal of Modern Africa Studies.
This event is part of Sustainability Week 2023, an annual event organised in collaboration between Lund University and Lund Municipality. This year, over 60 lectures, guided tours, exhibitions, and more are arranged.
